Vilnius – Trakai– Druskininkai – Kaunas- Rumšiškės
Day 1.
Arrival in Vilnius airport. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Meeting a guide. City tour of Vilnius includes the Old Town (one of the largest and most beautiful in Central and East Europe, included into UNESCO Heritage list), Gediminas castle, Cathedral, monument for the Great Knight Gediminas, St. Anne’s Church, the Dawn Gate, Vilnius University campus and the church of St. Johns. The streets of “Užupis” republic. Free time. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 2.
Tour to Trakai (28 km from Vilnius), the ancient capital of the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania – a visit of the 15th century Trakai insular castle. Excursion around Trakai: peninsula’s castle, island’s castle – museum, the small town – Karaimai. Sailing with a ship in Galvės lake. Next stop - Druskininkai, Lithuanian health resort, famous as a mineral water source and homeland of talented Lithuanian artist M.K. Ciurlionis. Free time. Overnight in the hotel in Druskininkai.
Day 3.
After breakfast ekskursion by ship to Liškiava. Visit the chuch of late barogue and the former Dominican abbey. Return to Druskininkai. Visit to Grutas soviet sculptures park, where the monuments from soviet Lithuania are collected and exhibited in an open air museum. The facility is circled by barbed wire and guard towers, and dotted with some 65 bronze and granite statues of former Soviet leaders Lenin and Stalin and other infamous communists. Departure to Kaunas. Overnight in the hotel in Kaunas.
Day 4.
Excursion around Kaunas – the second largest city in Lithuania, the capital of pre-war Lithuania: the Old Town – Kaunas castle architectural ensemble, Town Hall, Thunder house, Cathedral, Vytautas church; Devils’ museum, Čiurlionis Art Gallery, the house of a War Museum, the house of a Japan diplomat Ch. Sukihara. Pažaislis architectural ensemble in the city outskirts. Free time. Overnight in the hotel in Kaunas.
Day 5.
Trip to Vilnius with a stopover in Rumsiskes, ethnographic open air museum. In the territory of 175 ha one may see 140 original well preserved buildings dated from 18 - 20th centuries, collected from various ethnographic regions. Next stop - in the old Lithuania capital Kernavė, an anciant settlement of our forefathers that evokes primeval past of Lithuania, now a site of archeological museum, the mound and the church. Arrival in Vilnius. Overnight in the hotel in Vilnius.
Day 6.
Free time. Departure from Vilnius.
