Beer tasting tour

Vilnius – Trakai – Kaunas – Šiauliai – Biržai – Kernavė – Vilnius

Day 1.

Arrival in Vilnius airport. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. City tour of Vilnius includes the Old Town (one of the largest and most beautiful in Central and East Europe, included into UNESCO Heritage list), Gediminas castle, Cathedral, monument for the Great Knight Gediminas, St. Anne’s Church, the Dawn Gate, Vilnius University campus and the church of St. Johns. Tour to Trakai (28 km from Vilnius), the ancient capital of the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania – a visit of the 15^th century Trakai insular castle. Excursion around Trakai: peninsula’s castle, island’s castle – museum, the small town – Karaimai. A trip back to Vilnius. Supper in the evening – tasting national meals and drinks (beer). Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2.

A trip to Kaunas (100 km). Accommodation in the hotel. Excursion around Kaunas – the second largest city in Lithuania, the capital of pre-war Lithuania: the Old Town – Kaunas castle architectural ensemble, Town Hall, Thunder house, Cathedral, Vytautas church; Devils’ museum, Čiurlionis Art Gallery. Excursion to the “Ragutis” brewery. Tasting the beer: “Premium Ragutis”, “Pilsner ragutis”, “Širvėnos”, “Biržiečių”, “Fortas” ale, “Fortas dark” and the special from Ragutis. Free time. Supper in the restaurant “Avilys”: tasting “Avilys” and honey beer. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 3.

A trip to Šiauliai. Excursion around the city of Sun: Salduvė mound, church, the Square of the Sun Clock, Žaliūkai wind mill, the Dawn museum. Free time. A trip to the hill of Croses. Excursion to the old Lithuanian brewery (established in 1786). Tasting beer. A trip to Biržai. Ethnographical evening listening to the national music and songs about beer in “Sėla” museum. Beer tasting. Overnight in hotel in Biržai.

Day 4.

Excursion around Radvilai castle in Biržai. A trip to one of the bigest sinkhole in Lithuania – “The Cow Hole” in Karajimiškės. Tasting cankers. A trip to Balsiai water mill. A unique excursion around the mill when you will get acquainted with the home-brew “Žaldokas” brewing process. Tasting home-brew “Žaldokas”, “Šnekutis” and “Senelis”. Dinner in the mill. A trip to Vilnius. Free time. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 5.

Leaving to the old Lithuania capital Kernavė, an anciant settlement of our forefathers that evokes primeval past of Lithuania, now a site of archeological museum, the mound and the church. Visiting Joneikiškės – the “Europe Park” exposition: open-air sculpture park in the forest, exhibition of sculptures created by artists from Japan, the USA, Ireland, Great Britain, Greece, etc. A trip back to Vilnius. Free time. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 6.

Free time in Vilnius. Leaving Lithuania.
