Child's departure abroad
For traveling to foreign countries for children under 18 years parents, guardians or persons authorized to accompany the child are responsible of health life care, legal rights and protecting the interests of child.
A child accompanied with one parent, by an authorized person or an ongoing one travels the written parental consent is not required if the child is in the Schengen area of law.
The child accompanied by the parents, guardian, authorized person or one child traveling in a foreign country witch is outside the Schengen area, must to comply with the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in 2002 28 February Resolution No. 302 (2008 Government of the Republic of Lithuania on 16 July Resolution No. 302 version) approved by the "Child's temporary departure to foreign countries outside the Schengen area, describes the procedure". In accordance with the procedures set out in this resolution, a child with one parent traveling to a foreign country, outside the Schengen area, it is not needed the second parent's consent for the child to leave. If the child goes alone or with the accompanying person (not a parent), at the Lithuanian border checkpoint to officials must be submitted at least one parent or guardian's written consent to leave the child alone or with his / her escort, and a copy of this consent. The consent authenticity of the signature must be witnessed by a notary or the Lithuanian diplomatic mission or consular officer, or Elder. A child moves to a foreign country with its accompanying person, at least one parent or guardian's written consent must accompany the child and in that consent must be accompanying person's and the child's personal data: name, birth date or personal ID code, the Lithuanian passport, identity card or other identity document confirming the details (number, what and when granted), expire date. In the case of a child's name does not match one of the parents, with whom he travels abroad, last name, the Republic of Lithuanian border checkpoint officials requested the child's birth certificate. Child, which provides custody, guardian, child care institution or his authorized representative, at least 3 days before the expected child's temporary departure to a foreign country, must inform in writing the local child protection office (section) of the scheduled departure of the child's temporary foreign country, stating the destination, duration, and the country in which the child leaves.
